Login with putty user/pw the ones created during seagate central setup
issue these commands to re-enable settings, content browse, and twonky beam
sudo curl 127.0.0.1:9000/rpc/set_option?enableweb=2
sudo curl 127.0.0.1:9000/rpc/set_option?enableweb=2
sudo curl 127.0.0.1:9000/rpc/set_option?enablenmcwebapi=1
sudo curl 127.0.0.1:9000/rpc/set_option?disablewebui=0
Done.. /mic drop
Where do you enter these commands? Sorry I'm a NAS noob
ReplyDeleteYou need to connect vie telnet/shh with something like putty.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.putty.org/ enter the ip address of your seagate and hit open and you'll get a black "dos screen", cut and paste the commands into that screen.
I upgraded to a qnap and don't have the seagate anymore, so I'm doing this from memory, and my mem. stinks, so I think that's all. If you still have trouble email twonky support, they're great, seagate's sucks..

ReplyDeleteseagate central, 4 tb FW version 2013.0726.0250-F (there is new fw 2015.0916.0008-F )
ReplyDeletethank you, used putty and that worked for me , now I can see Twonky webconfig and change settings
BUT without "sudo" (or get message "sudo: not found")
Version of TwonkyServer is: 7.0.14-1
Should I have to repeat everything on seagate restart? ( or changes will disapear)??
Not sure, seem to recall having to do this more than once, but it's been a long time since I've had one of these. As far "sudo" it is a standard linux cmd making you a "superuser" it's usually required to run any kind of admin tasks, but it's possible you logged as an admin, so what ever works..
ReplyDeleterestart and everything works as expected (changes were nor lost)
ReplyDeleteThanks again
If enyone needs help i took snapshots...
Still use twonky on my qnap, I'm assuming if anyone at qnap suggested "hey lets break this critical piece of software" they would be fired immediately..
ReplyDeleteAnd please don't be insensitive and call it "cripple ware" it
prefers to be called "differently enabled ware"..
still using ver 6.034 in an old iomega ix200 nas drive (and 7.1.2 in a w7 proliant )
ReplyDeleteBy the way .. I don´t like plex
twonky removed beam for ios from the app store some time ago (no idea about android)
ReplyDeletethe nearest you can be now in ios is "belkin media play"
"I don´t like plex"
ReplyDeletePlex blows, they are constantly adding "features" that most users will NEVER use, but they will not spend any effort on the most basic things working, the most basic open a folder and "no files to display" how many years do you need to get a directory to actual show the files in it? Who needs a "media server" that can't actually display media?
Kodi is probably the best overall solution if you have a good box to run it on (I use an asus nexus I got for $30 on groupon) could use more than 1gb/8gb ram/rom but the atom cpu is solid and build quality blows away the generic boxes, ie the generic Amlogic S802 2gb/16gb box I had :-( that really fast plenty ram and 16gb flash it rocked until the copper on the mobo vaporized and poof, but that's the prob with the generic boxes they are disposable so don't spend more than your will to throw away on one..
As far as a basic nas setup, twonky or minidnla are the only viable options. Unless your nas is really a headless wintel desktop pc (which defeats the whole low power always on nas concept) then trying to run Plex, Subsonic, Serviio, Playon etc is just a waste of time and effort..
I can´t set up remote access ("unknown error"). Probably because of very old (2013) firmware, that I need to update (seen here : https://goo.gl/Iu3itj )
ReplyDeleteBefore updating fw to version 2015.0916.0008-F ( Seagate-HS-update-201509160008F.img archive)
Is there any problem with new version of twonky provided??
actual is 7.0.14-1
also read something about loosing su access
ReplyDelete(I already have pasword, so that doesn´t affect me)
sorry about my school english, writting from spain
by remote access I mean access from "internet" (not"my intranet") using tapping service (this service expires 2008 April), to avoid problems with non static (fixed ) public IP adress from my internet provider

Delete"Revert to previous firmware on Seagate Central
Many people have upgraded their Seagate Central to the latest firmware and instantly regretted the decision. For some it was because root / su access has been taken away"
-(not me)-
". For others they don't like the new Twonky media server"
-(why, is there any problem with new twonky version?)-
nice...!!!
